Ice Skating Skills
Basic: Fall and get up, Forward stroking with T-pushes
first Skill test
first Skill test
- one foot glide
- backward Swizzle
- Snowplow Stop
- one feet pump(along circle, if clock-wise, then right foot glide, left foot pump) (this is forwards but you can also practice backwards)
- two foot edges (along line, skate in half circle, use hands to navigate)
- forward cross-over(along circle, two foot glide->cross-over, use edges to turn)
- two foot turns(along circle, two foot glide->180 degree turn(from forward to backward, notice your center of gravity)
- T stop
- lunge(front foot glide, bend knee to 90 degree angle, back foot stretching, avoid blade on the ice)
- backward cross-over(reverse version of forward cross-over)
- Spiral(one foot glide, back leg left 90 degree, like ballet dancer)
- Shoot the duck(one foot glide bend your knee like you almost sitting on one feet, the other foot lift strait foward)
- hockey stop
- bunny hop(jump using one toe pick, quickly land at another toe pad and glide forward using one foot, the original one)
- three turns(along circle, use one feet turn, 180 degrees)
- Mohawk(two foot glide->two foot turns->one foot glide backward->turn around and glide forward using the other foot)
- pivot(for right-handed: left toe pad as pivot, right foot pump to circle the pivot, use hand to help yourself circling around)
- two foot spin(pivot->change center of gravity to the middle of the blade)
- Waltz Jump(one foot glide using outside edge, leap slightly and land use the toe pad of the other foot, and glide backwards, swing your other feet backwards to help you)

Story of Digital Communication~what I learnd from Prof. Viswanath
the story is from basic digital communication(Digi. Comm.) scheme to complex modern ones
for each scheme, we focus on
two resources:
Additive Noise Channel, Wireline Channel and Wireless Channnel
A. Additive Noise Channel
# Sequential Comm.
# Block Comm.
# modulation(mod.) and demodulation(demod.)
# coding and decoding
B. Wireline Channel
# Inter Symbol Interference(ISI)
# Othogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(OFDM)
C. Wireless Channel
# baseband and passband
# fading channel
# diversity
for each scheme, we focus on
two resources:
- power
- spectrum
- data rate
- error rate(reliability)
- transmitter(Tx)
- receiver(Rx)
- channel
